Balducci's Thanksgiving Campaign
How do you hawk a fresh turkey at Thanksgiving time during a presidential election year? By touting its status as the preferred bird by White House chefs since the LBJ administration. And, by coming up with an ad campaign – which began running/airing the day after the election of the new president – designed as much to attract media attention as it was cooks. And boy did the feathers fly, not to mention, turkeys fly off the shelves at Balducci’s. Interestingly, our client received a cease-and-desist letter from the White House (which they proudly framed for their offices) not because they were offended by the ads but because they didn’t want to suggest they endorse a commercial product.
